Honda Exports US Made Cars

February 7, 2014

It happened in 2013. Honda Motor Company exported more vehicles from its factories in the United States than it imported from Japan.

The number of vehicles exported was 108,705, while the number imported was only 88,537. Since Honda opened its first plant in the United States, more than one million cars and light trucks have been exported to more than 50 countries. Another item of interest is that Honda was he first Japanese auto company to assemble vehicles in the America. The plant was opened in Marysville, Ohio in 1982.

It seems odd to think of Honda as a Japanese company since almost 95% of Honda and Acura cars and light trucks sold in the U.S. are assembled in North America.
