Gas Prices

Posted on: 10/13/2015

If you’re a frequent traveler by auto then I'm sure you pay close attention to gas prices. And well you should since prices not only vary from state to state, but from city to city within a state.

Smart shoppers will know the answers to the questions below without referring to any of the websites that provide hour by hour updates on gasoline prices from service stations within a certain zip code. Don’t cheat and look at the answers before jotting down your guess.

Question #1 – What state has the lowest gas price?

Question #2 – What state has the second lowest price?

Question #3 – What is the average price per gallon for the state listed on question #1?

Question #4 – What is the average price per gallon for the state listed on question #2?

Question #5 – What state has the highest price per gallon?

Question #6 – There are only 2 states that prohibit consumers from pumping their own gas. What are those states?

All set for the correct answers?

#1 – SC

#2 - NJ (Shocked at this answer?)

#3 - $1.95

#4 - $1.98 (Cross the state line and in NY you’ll be paying $2.39 per gallon.)

#5 – CA (The average price per gallon is $2.91.)

#6 – NJ and Oregon are the only states that ban self-service gas stations. NJ is not a typo error. Not only are the prices lower in New Jersey than 48 other states, it isn’t necessary to pump your own gas.
