Flood autos

One recent estimate of the vehicles damaged in last month's catastropic Texas floods puts the number at close to 10,000. Although by law a vehicle with a "flood" branded title should never be sold to an unsuspecting buyer, hundreds will.
Texas isn't necessarily the market where the flood vehicles will be sold. In the past flood vehicles have been moved from one state to another until a clean title can be issued. Buyers in Mexico have also been victims of the problem.
Be aware that flood vehicles will be in the market-place and, prior to the purchase of any used auto, have a certified mechanic inspect for water damage. Ask your insurance company if information is available through them on what to look for and, of course, searching the internet for "how to inspect vehicles for water damage" will produce several sites.
