Are you aware that the year of 2015 was a record year for automobile recalls? Does this mean that manufacturers are making inferior vehicles?
Now, regarding the first question, yes, 2015 did establish a new record just above the old record that was set in 2014.
Regarding the second question the answer would be no and, in fact, the quality of vehicles continues to improve. The government is now keeping closer tabs on the industry and with fines in the millions you can be sure that recalls will be made on a timely basis, not several years after the fact such as the GM key recall problem.
